Caldervale Technology Limited have improved all of their production facilities and streamlined efficiencies within the business to meet the latest ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.

The improvements have also been felt in the Fusion Equipment Limited section of the business which recently moved into a brand new purpose built facility in Chesterfield.

Caldervale Managing Director, Gordon Lilley explained: “We now need to move onto the new ISO standards for quality and environmental. We are going to include that into the scope of the Caldervale site, so both businesses will be part of the company accreditation. We’ll draw the businesses together and be ran under one combined company policy.”

The ISO 14001 environmental management system standard is an internationally recognised environmental management standard. It is a systematic framework to manage the immediate and long term environmental impacts of an organisation's products, services and processes.

Whilst, the ISO 9001 is the international quality management system standard that can help any sized organisation consistently meet the needs of their customers and other relevant stakeholders.

With both Caldervale and Fusion Equipment working towards reaching these standards, the business has began to notice the rewards, as Lilley stated: “We are starting to reap the benefits of that now, due to the way we have laid out the production facility, which has seen a reduce in the times for production and manufacture, so we have streamlined our processes.”

Caldervale manufacture a range of tooling and equipment for installing plastic pipe systems. Primarily, Caldervale’s core products are electrofusion control units, clamps and preparation tools for cleaning pipes before joining.

The improvements have enabled Caldervale to look towards the future of the company, in the form of apprentices as Lilley concluded: “We are now looking at apprentices across both businesses and we are aiming to work with the local colleges to find out more about apprenticeship schemes. We are aiming to bring on apprentices at both sites.”

“We’ve got an ageing force on both sites, so we now want to bring the youngsters through, with a view to training them up and moving forward in the business. With the new ISO standards and our goals with apprentices, the future is very bright here at Caldervale.”
